At Pratt & Whitney, MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) is a key component of our Operational Excellence Playbook and our quality improvement process within Operations. MRL is Pratt and Whitney’s method to industrialize new products and technologies in a standardized way that allows us to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets. Execution of MRL elements to drive process control will dramatically improve the company’s quality and delivery signature.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced, proactive, and goal oriented professional to provide Manufacturing and Quality engineering support to the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deployment and execution within the Operations Module Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • With specific parts ownership, this role will drive manufacturing process improvements in our Supply Chain across multiple process steps that spans the full value stream of the parts on Purchased Components.
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost Curves, and Qualification plan.
  • Develop the Qualification Plan to identify quality risks in the design, manufacturing process, and producers.
  • Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL elements to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance.
  • As a key member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers and other stakeholders is required
  • Identify & implement process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs.
  • Significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, manufacturing engineering, systems designers, quality subject matter experts, and other stakeholders is required.
  • Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and ACE/CORE initiatives.
  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation of MRL gate advancements. Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.
  • Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance
  • Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution. Develop standard work, procedures, and integrate industry-standard best practices.
  • Team with Engineering and Procurement to execute supply base improvement plans that improve Quality signature and to ensure Customer confidence.
  • Travel up to 30%.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or other technical field or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract


Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of P&W Quality Procedures, Quality Management Systems ASQR-01, AS9100, AS13100, APQP, PPAP, Special Process Requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels of the organization and be self-sufficient
  • Demonstrated proficiency leading and managing a portfolio of cross functional projects
  • Able to use Minitab and other statistical software
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics.
  • Six Sigma Certification, project leadership/management/coaching experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
