Job description

Summary:

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (“SQE”) is responsible for ensuring all products manufactured by Able Coil meet all product specifications, including industry standards and customers’ expectations. The SQE will utilize his/her leadership skills to lead, coach, and mentor Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and individual contributors from other disciplines within the company. The SQE will leverage his/her technical skills to maintain and improve the quality management system. He/she will liaise with other managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the quality management system is functioning properly. The SQE will develop procedures, provide training, and implement tools and techniques to ensure full compliance with ACE’s quality standards. The SQE will monitor the quality management system for nonconformances and opportunities for improvement by collecting key performance data and reporting against established standards. The SQE will then develop and implement solutions to eliminate nonconformances and further support our commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility: Include the following, but not limited to:

· Active management and execution of the ACE Quality Management System

· Serve as the Lead Quality Management Representative for ACE.

· Compliance of Materials to EU Directives, SEC, Industry Standards & Specifications (REACH, ROHS, Conflict Materials, Counterfeit Materials, SAE specs, MIL Specs & others as they apply).

· Export regulations (ITAR/EAR, NAFTA, HTS Codes).

· Contract Review (Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, T & C’s, Drawing, ECO status, Quotations, Export Restrictions, First Article Requirements).

· Conduct and manage first articles (FAI’s) in compliance with AS9102 and Net-Inspect.

· Conduct and maintain internal and external calibration of gauges and equipment.

· Inspect products using a variety of electrical and mechanical test and measurement equipment. Examples include LCR meters, magnetics analyzers, transformer testers, HiPot testers, oscilloscopes, calipers, micrometers, gauges, scales, and microscopes.

· Material/ Product receiving inspections.

· Lead and manage the Quality Assurance Team, including Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors.

o Communicate and manage the daily and weekly goals for Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.

o Proactively evaluate daily shipping requirements and resolve issues as required to ensure on time delivery.

· Develop, maintain, and implement all quality training needed for Quality Assurance and Production Teams based on internal and external requirements.

· Lead AS9100 audit compliance and ITAR on-going certification.

· Manage internal and external nonconformances.

o Work with production and engineering groups to identify root cause of nonconformance’s and implement corrective actions accordingly. Audit results.

· Process customer complaints (RMAs). Validate customers’ expectations.

· Manage vendor performance and nonconformances.

o Communicate nonconformances. Request root cause analysis, corrective, and preventative actions. Audit results.

· Evaluate and resolve discrepancies with internal, customer, and supplier reports.

· Process/ maintain audits and reports.

· Develop and maintain Inspection Plans.

· Engineering Change Order (ECO) approvals and initiations.

· Reviewing product Quality Records for accuracy and completeness.

· Liaison to Customers, Suppliers, and Regulatory agencies for quality related issues.

· Identify, refine, and implement cost-savings and quality improvement projects- concept to implementation.

· Serving Lead Auditor- responsible for internal, external and 3rd party audits.

· Training and qualifying all staff on QMS and Company Policies.

· Section Planning, Budgeting and Reporting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required.

· Plan, organize and control activities to ensure projects are on time, within cost parameters, meet quality standards, and manufacturability.

· Ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and work in the manufacturing process.

· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and maintain productive work relationships.

· Independent starter with high self-motivation and self-management capabilities.

· Organized with attention to detail.

· Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining a Quality Management System.

· Experience, or equivalent, with interpreting Industry and Military Standard & Specifications.

· Knowledge/ experience with electrical measurement equipment and hand-held gauges including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, pin gages, etc.

· 3-5 years minimum inspection experience, or a combination of experience and education.

· Must be able to pass the inspection eye exam (including color vision test).

· Experience in driving Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analyses (corrective & preventative actions)

· Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment, balancing multiple priorities.

· Ability to constructively represent the Company with customers, suppliers and regulatory agencies.

· Understand and apply business acumen.

· Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR.

· Ability to lift 30 lbs.

· Skilled at Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, others

· Must be able to read, write, & understand English.

· Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.

· Experience conducting and managing audits.
