About the Role
Your Responsibilities
- Be the single point of onsite Supplier Integrated Engineering support for the OEM Customer Engineering and communicate the “voice of the customer” back to Magna (Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Manufacturing Divisions, Sales and Business Development).
- Manage customer / supplier communication. Facilitate meetings between Magna and the customer. Distribute meeting minutes, presentations, technical reports, and other relevant documentation. Assess the feedback from the customer and escalate the issues to Magna teams as required.
- Collaborates to define statement of work and functional objectives for both the component parts as well as the system in which they will function and ensure the Magna team knows the customer’s requirements.
- Leads/Supports problem resolutions with the Cross Functional Team, track customer open issues and prioritize the completion of tasks to ensure customer requirements and program deliverables are met from the Magna Team.
- Plan ahead as required and forecast customers’ requirements to help keep the team on-track and anticipate problems and develop contingency plans to deal with them
- Provide input to Program Management timelines to ensure customer milestones are met.
- Participate in the change management process at Magna and customer.
- Attend customer events such as customer plant visits, vehicle demonstrations, pilot builds.
- Facilitate engineering budget discussions related to prototypes, ED&D, scope changes between customer and Magna.
Who we are looking for
- Ability to multi-task and respond to customer needs at a moment’s notice.
- Hands-on & well-rounded team player who can function well individually or as part of the Cross Functional Team and can work well with all departments (Program Management, Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Warranty, Quality, Cost Estimating).
- Strong proven problem resolution/solving skills.
- Demonstrates ability in system level engineering documents (Eng. Specs., DFMEA, DVP&R) and ability to critique validation test plans on a system vs vehicle level.
- Ability to understand OEM program development, change notice procedures, engineering documents, and Tier 1 responsibilities.
- High level of analytical ability and understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
- Strong Initiative, Organizational, Priority Setting skills.
Your preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from an accredited University
- 5 years minimum preferably in automotive with a Tier I gray/block box supplier
- Exceptional oral & written communication with experience with being the lead Customer engineering interface
- Hands-on cradle to grave and launch experience with mechanical components and systems (preferably with automotive latches, power liftgates; power sliding doors, or similar products such as: sunroof mechanisms, hinges, seating mechanisms, window regulators, convertible tops, DC motors, outside/inside mirrors, door handles, charge port doors, etc).
- Experience with guiding a global cross functional team
