Basic Function: This position is responsible for interacting, motivating, directing and communicating with the production employees and staff personnel. In addition, this position is responsible for hiring, training, issuing disciplinary action, department safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, staff development, timely support of order fulfillment, production activities and the overall efficient operation of the department.
Essential Functions:
- Must maintain an acceptable attendance record in accordance with company policy.
- Must work closely with other teams and team leaders to assure smooth company operations.
- Train personnel regarding the department procedures, quality requirements, work order instructions, safety, 6S and all other required policies/procedures.
- Assure incoming product to the production department is correct, and the proper procedures are completed in a timely manner.
- Meet production needs by prioritizing and directing production personnel.
- Comprehensive understanding of Warehouse Management System and RF Equipment with capability to trouble shoot and fix issues such as allocation/reallocation, label printing, inventory adjustments, etc.
- Follow up immediately on any machine breakdown notifying the maintenance department of necessary maintenance work or dangerous equipment.
- Participate in the selection process of new employees by performing final interviews.
- Handle all PTO requests and enter information on payroll system. Complete and deliver any disciplinary action necessary per attendance policy.
- Follow and enforce all plant policies and procedure. Council all team members who violate policies. Document all warnings to human resources.
- Conduct annual employee performance evaluations.
- Assists team members with keeping production department clean, neat and organized. Sweeps workspaces, disposes of trash and other debris properly.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Active participation on Operation Management staff.
- Develops and implements special projects relating to continuous improvement.
- Rotate to first shift on occasion to cover for vacations or specified training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities preferred:
- Previous knowledge of production and production processes.
- Strong understanding of entire plant and all functions.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork values.
- Previous management skills.
- Strong communication skills to communicate with coworkers, customer service and management.
- Knowledge of computer system to locate product, software program (excel) knowledge.
- Strong Leadership Abilities.
