Job description

The Supervisor of Claims is responsible for supervising activities in the claims department and oversees the investigation of insurance claims based on coverage.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Claims Management

  • Supervises, organizes, leads, controls and coordinates the provision of services in the area(s) of but not limited to, claims administration, adjudication, compliance, litigation and liability, and corporate claims policy.
  • Ensures complete and sound claims settlements, legal reviews and investigations when necessary.
  • Evaluates claims staff work results by enforcing productivity standards, conducting quality audits and identifying trends.
  • Responsible for resolving non-routine claim escalations.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for departmental processes, procedures, and training.
  • Manages workload for team to meet established service levels.

Team leadership

  • Supports and drives overall priorities and initiatives of the department.
  • Provide strong leadership to guide and inspire team members while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback while supporting team members development.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments.
  • Resolve conflicts and interpersonal issues within the team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage resources efficiently to meet team objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to assess team effectiveness; oversees day to day improvements based on performance data.
  • Execute and monitor initiatives to enhance employee engagement and job satisfaction.
  • Participates in client meetings as well as audit reviews as needed.
  • Works with other departmental areas to align on overall goals.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by management.
  • Ideal candidate will reside in Miami or Atlanta (multiple opportunities available).

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher.
  • Must have Claims Adjuster License.
  • 5+ years of related experience in this function or similar external activity.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing people.
  • Attention to detail and ability to investigate.
  • Advanced investigative skills.
  • Advanced communications skills.
  • Advanced ability to negotiate and deal with a variety of people.
  • Able to handle multiple claims efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Able to make decisions and influence others.
  • Ability to provide coaching and feedback, build and maintain relationships and lead others through change.
  • Must be adaptable and able to manage change.
  • Able to build and empower diverse winning teams.
