Job Description

The Superintendent positions has a direct impact on the success of any Hoff Construction Group, LLC project, including: safety, cost management, schedule and quality. The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers to ensure successful completion of a project. Hoff CG believes the Superintendent is a core member of the Project Team and relies upon their professionalism and experience.

 

The primary duties and responsibilities of a Superintendent are as follows:

1.       Safety: The Superintendent promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately. Superintendents also:

a.       Are required to be CRP, AED and First Aid trained.  Superintendents are also required to provide CPR & First Aid for onsite emergencies as a condition of employment.

b.       Conduct and participate in safety meetings,

c.        Provide weekly jobsite safety inspections,

d.       Provide daily inspection of site for safety compliance and implement corrections as needed,

e.       Record and report any injuries,

f.         Escort visitors as required.

g.       Receive and maintain CPR & First Aide training.

h.       Ensure the jobsite and buildings are secured from intrusion during off hours.

2.       Coordination: The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day site including:

a.       Review Subcontract documents for scope completeness,

b.       Conduct and participate in weekly Subcontractor Meetings,

c.        Conduct specific coordination meetings,

d.       Resolve field issues or conflicts to prevent project delays,

e.       Review project plans and scope for design/constructability issues and create RFI’s as needed,

f.         Review submittals and shop drawings for specification compliance and constructability,

g.       Monitor all work installed to ensure installation complies with documents and quality standards.

h.       Direct crews to achieve overall schedule compliance.

i.         Ensure project is ready to receive equipment, materials and labor so as to prevent delays and cluttering of the jobsite.

3.       Scheduling: The Superintendent is responsible for the development and updating of the project schedule:

a.       Develop baseline schedule for the project,

b.       Provide monthly project update for distribution to Owner,

c.        Update and maintain 3-week look a head schedule for Subcontractors,

d.       Schedule and participate in both special and city inspections,

e.       Identify and track long lead procurement items.

4.       Daily Reports:

a.       Provide daily record keeping of all jobsite activities in Procore.  Activities shall have thorough detail and at a minimum contain all manpower, materials, locations, descriptions of work and inspections with results.

b.       Take minimum of 5 daily progress photo per trade and upload to Procore, though enough photos to depict daily progress and activities.

c.        Reports shall be submitted at the end of each day.

5.       General / Miscellaneous: The Superintendent is also responsible for the following:

a.       Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees,

b.       Superintendent assists in compiling the punch list and implements completion of items,

c.        Maintains an organized job site, including the construction office,

d.       Set‐up job sites with proper resources needed for a successful project, including postings, job trailers, temporary power and water.

e.       Monitor and correct need for sanitation facilities.

f.         Manages SWPPP and acts as lead CESL for the project.

6.       Training: Hoff CGH is determined to ensure that Superintendents are properly trained to be able to accomplish the requirements above. Thus, Hoff CG will conduct training in the following areas which Superintendents must participate:

a.       CPR & 1st Aide certification,

b.       Competent Person training: Trench Safety, Scaffolds, Forklifts, Small Tools, Fall Protection, Electrical Hazardous, etc…

7.       Time Commitment: Superintendents are required to be onsite before and after construction operations. General hours of operation are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which shall be based on an on-site physical presence. Some extended hours of operation and possible weekend work may be required and considered part of employment, though it should be considered occasional and not a part of standard operation procedures.  In addition, Superintendents shall be available for off-hour emergency response, rather by phone or physical presence.  Superintendents shall not work on Sundays nor more than 3 consecutive Saturdays, unless due to an emergency.

8.       Company Handbook: Superintendents, as with all employees, shall receive a copy of the Employee Handbook and shall read and confirm knowledge of general employment rules and regulations by signing and returning the last page to Kevin Hoffman.

9.       Physical Labor:  Superintendents are expected to be able to manipulate object positions with a weight up to 50 pounds.  In addition, Superintendents may from time to time provide physical labor only to supplement certain areas of the project such as minor cleaning, layout, safety item maintenance or the like.  Superintendents shall not provide labor to the extent that they may be considered as being reclassified as a non-exempt employee.
