TITLE:Summer School Teacher, Middle School
 
LOCATION: NLHSMMC 
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: July 8th - August 8th, Monday - Thursday; Hours: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM; up to two hours of prep per week 
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
To help students retain subject matter and skills that have been learned during the previous school year. 
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
This description of the position of Summer School Teacher is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs. 

1. Emphasizes competency in the basic skills.
2. Maintains a classroom environment conductive to instruction and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
3. Establishes a positive climate for learning; encourages students to do well and to develop a degree of responsibility for learning.
4. Assist the administration in implementing policies, rules, and regulations covering student daily life and conduct.
5. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom.
6. Seeks to maintain and improve professional competence.
7. Document and report on progress made by student during program. 
8. Ensure supervision and safety of all students during school day. 
9. Must be available for the entire session of Summer School, including training on July 5th. Rate on July 5th will be $35/hour.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• As set by the State certification requirements
• Available during the dates listed for entire program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bilingual Spanish and English 

SALARY: $40/hour for instruction, $35/hour for prep
