Waterford Upstart provides four-year-old children access to the highest form of academic support in their early education at no cost to participants. Waterford Upstart offers personalized education and coaching, a computer and internet if needed, and adaptive education software. Our Summer Operations Associates play an important role in helping us achieve our organizational mission and providing an excellent experience to all families!
Our summer is split up into two halves: the Warehouse Season and the Events Season.
During the Warehouse Season, you will be working in our offices in Taylorsville and West Jordan, Utah to help prepare equipment to be sent out to families participating in the program. You will also perform equipment collections, administrative duties, and learn what happens behind the scenes to make our events run successfully. These tasks are often repetitive in nature. You can expect to work four 10 hour shifts each week (to total 40 hours a week) during the first half of the summer.
During the Events Season, you will travel around the state of Utah running Family Orientation Events for our participants. This will involve a high level of interaction with both parents and children, along with presenting to parents and entertaining children during the events. You can expect to work four 8-10 hour shifts each week (to total 35 - 40 hours a week) during the second half of the summer. You can also expect a couple overnight trips during the Events Season with occasional half-days on Saturday (for overtime). Due to the nature of running events, Associates will have very limited vacation time during the Events Season.
This position will run from June 3 - end of August. Opportunities to start earlier (May 1) and/or stay on later (October) will be available if interested.

Travel to and host engaging Waterford Upstart Orientation events throughout Utah
Position may include occasional travel to events outside of Utah (this is not guaranteed for all Associates)
Present program training material to families
Lead engaging activities with children during events
Maintain positive and professional interactions with caregivers, children, and partners
Provide excellent customer service
Continuously champion, promote, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at Waterford.org
High school diploma or GED
Excellent communication skills, including experience communicating with young children
Strong public speaking/presentation skills
Willing and able to drive or make transportation arrangements to our offices in Taylorsville, Utah or West Jordan, Utah everyday
Able to lift 40 lbs, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for long periods of time
Proactive, attentive to details, and ability to follow complex processes, including use of computers
Willing to learn new software (Salesforce, CRM)
Willing to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, and occasional Saturdays (for overtime)
Able to do repetitive tasks for long periods of time
2+ years customer service, events, or similar experience preferred
Fluent in Spanish is a plus (ability to host events and present in Spanish)
Pay for this position starts at $16 - $16.50 per hour. If you are currently attending college and are interested in pursuing internship credit for this experience, Waterford.org is happy to support you as you work with your university to do so.
A $100 bonus will be given to Associates after their first six weeks of work is completed.

We anticipate this seasonal, full time, hourly position will pay $16.00 - 16.50 per hour depending on the education, experience and skill level of the individual we hire. In addition to hourly compensation, seasonal team members are eligible to participate in Waterford's retirement plan. Team members' contributions are matched up to 5% by the organization.
