The AAMC Office of Legal Services is seeking a rising 3L for a summer internship. The summer legal intern engages in both short and long-term research assignments and produces written and oral work products in support of the Office of Legal Services.
The AAMC Office of Legal Services is comprised of our Chief Legal Officer, three attorneys, and an Executive Coordinator. Our role is to provide in-house legal guidance to the AAMC in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to, legal review of contracts, data privacy and security, intellectual property, employment matters, enterprise risk management, conflicts of interest, non-discrimination, and litigation.
Development Opportunities:
Working as an in-house counsel requires flexibility and an ability to issue-spot and provide guidance in a wide variety of legal areas. The legal Intern in the Office of Legal Services will learn how an in-house counsel office functions as a team and within a mission-oriented organization. The legal Intern will receive feedback on and opportunities to improve legal work product.

Candidates for this position should be rising 3Ls currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school
Candidates must have exceptional research and writing abilities
A demonstrated interest in higher education issues, health policy, non-profits, or public service is preferred

Compensation Grade Range and Mid-Point
Grade Range:$18.00 - $26.00/ Grade Mid-Point:$22.00
The above annual compensation range and mid-point are general guidelines. For candidates who meet the criteria, the AAMC's compensation philosophy is to target the midpoint of the salary range. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.
If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
