Description:
Cox Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Legal Intern who will be responsible for supporting a variety of interesting projects as directed by members of Cox's legal department supporting Cox Enterprises, Inc., Cox Communications, Inc. and Cox Automotive, Inc. This Legal Intern will be based in Washington D.C. and support Cox Enterprises, Inc.'s Public Policy Office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities may include the following:
- Performing legal research and preparing memoranda as directed by members of the Cox legal department;
- Assisting with drafting legal documents for use with administrative agencies.;
- Joining meetings with federal regulators and preparing for those meetings;
- Observing and participating in client and department meetings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations and/or trials; or Opportunities may be available for the intern to work on projects in fields of interest.
Requirements:
- Completion of the first year of law school and current enrollment as a rising second year at an accredited U.S. law school by the time of the start of the program;
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of company information and the company's policies;
- Excellent legal and technical writing skills;
- Excellent analytical and communication skills;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality of work;
- Eager to learn new things and engage with the team;
- Exercise good judgment;
- Strong organizational skills; and Ability to manage multiple tasks to completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in automotive, communications, green energy, and technology;
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications;
- Comfortable learning and using legal technology and databases; and Strong interest in working for a corporate law firm or in a corporate environment.
** Note: Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.

Location: Onsite in Washington DC.
