The Tunnels, Bridges & Terminalsdepartment is looking for an intern to join their Transportation & Revenue Programsteam!
About the Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals Department and Transportation & Revenue Programs Unit:
The Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals department (TB&T) is the division of Port Authority that operates and maintains the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the Bayonne and Goethals Bridges, the Outerbridge Crossing, and the Midtown Bus Terminal and the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
The Transportation and Revenue Programs unit manages transportation planning, data analysis, and non-toll Revenue Programs within TB&T. The unit leads programs that track activity and customer satisfaction at TB&T facilities, analyzes trends, identifies challenges, and develops short- and long-term facility improvement programs. The unit also manages leasing activity at the Midtown Bus Terminal and GWB Bus Station.
Responsibilities:

• Assist with transportation planning tasks for TB&T
• Analyze traffic patterns at TB&T crossings
• Help to understand usage of the Post Authority Midtown Bus Terminal
• Research usage of pedestrian and bicycle pathways
• Organize, conduct, and analyze a survey of users on bicycle and pedestrian pathways on TB&T crossings
• Compile a land use inventory of TB&T facilities in GIS and create a detailed database of each property showing its uses, sizes, age, and other elements

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
• Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
• Interest in public service and/or transportation
• Willingness to learn

Desired:

• Major in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Experience with GIS platforms
• Experience with data analysis

Internship Details:

• The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
• The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
• This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
• The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
• The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
