Job description

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a Summer Associate for our Health Initiative team.

As a Summer Associate at The Rockefeller Foundation, you will have the chance to contribute to our initiatives through engaging, meaningful work assignments.

Program Details
  • This position is open to graduate students only.
  • A cover letter is required.
  • The 2024 summer program will run for 11 weeks from June – August 2024.
  • This position will be based in New York City or Washington D.C. with either a hybrid or fully remote schedule. Students engaged in fully remote work must be based in the United States.

Pay Range
: $30 - $35 hourly rate. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. This is a non-exempt position and thus eligible for overtime pay.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support efforts to align the needs of stakeholders within the nascent field of climate-health, promote an enabling policy environment, increase country access to climate-health financing, and/or accelerate climate-health innovation.
  • Research strategies/solutions to address the impacts of climate change on human health, particularly challenges impacting the most vulnerable populations.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform the implementation of the Health Initiative’s climate-health strategy, as well as in support of team programmatic, policy, and research priorities.
  • Prepare background and briefing materials to inform strategic engagements and partnerships.
  • Investigate partners engaged in activities at the nexus of climate and health, identifying partnership opportunities for the Health Initiative.
  • Interact with various academic, research, and implementation organizations tackling priority health and climate questions.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in one of the following areas: business, public policy, public health, government, international development, or a related field.
  • Key skills include writing, communications, strategy development, research, and information synthesis.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and ability to research new, potentially unfamiliar topics with limited guidance.
  • Collaborative, innovative, eager to learn, and interested in how foundations create and implement strategies working alongside partners.
  • Previous work experience in the nonprofit sector, consulting, research, or business-related field preferred.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Committed to the mission of the Foundation.
