Substitute School Nurses (RN) to join our School Nursing team for the
2023-2024 School Year. This is a
Per Diem position - we would contact
Substitute School Nurses as needed to fill in for absences in our School Nursing office.
Our school hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:15pm though our needs may vary on a given day.

- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License required
- 3+ years experience with pediatric learning disabilities/special needs preferred
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Job Goal: Provide the services of a
School Nurse as established by school policies, procedures, and protocols, and by local, state, and national regulations and statutes
Responsibilities:- Provides preventative health services to facilitate the students optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development.
- Provides assessment, first aid, and health care for students, staff and day care students, in case of injury or illness as needed.
- Provides medically prescribed treatment to students, including prescription medication administration (per LPS policy and Massachusetts state regulations) as needed
- Communicates with parents regarding health concerns, requiring follow-up, monitoring, evaluation and/or treatment
- Maintains comprehensive school health records, including daily visit entries into computer, accident reports and individual health visits when providing health care.
- Follows LPS healthcare policies/procedures regarding obtaining medication orders from licensed prescribers with parental consent at the beginning of each school year.
- Authorize exclusion and admission of students with infections and/or contagious diseases.
- Maintain professional competencies through continuing education (CPR, First Aid) and maintenance of nursing credentials.
- Works collaboratively with the schools consulting physicians
- Consult with appropriate staff as necessary
