Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Bridgeways Program Manager, the SUD Counselor will provide SUD education and counseling to youth who are juvenile justice involved or at-risk of juvenile justice involvement, and who have a mental health diagnosis/es which qualify them for Full Service Partnership services in the Bridgeways program. The SUD Counselor will work with youth who could benefit from specialized interventions to target co-occurring Substance Use symptoms, with the goal of removing these barriers to progress on the mental health impairment.

Required Qualifications

• Certified in the state of California as a SUD Counselor, 2 years' experience in substance abuse and/or counseling, co-occurring treatment highly desired.
• Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) but not required.
• Must possess the ability to make sound decisions independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide strength-based and culturally sensitive SUD education and counseling services to youth at schools, through home visits, and at other community settings
• Helps clients to identify and connect to activities that would positively impact their social, leadership and coping skills, as well as their physical, mental and emotional health.
• Screen each FSS client utilizing the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI), CSE-IT, and YLS/CMI
• Communicates regularly with the program's Bridgeway Clinicians, Peer-Support Specialist, Psychiatrist and Mental Health Registered Nurse regarding client SUD treatment
• Maintains a minimum 30% productivity level
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Schedule/Compensation

• Full-time, non-exempt
• Monday-Friday (may include evening and occasional weekend hours)
• $28.00 -$30.60 Salary will commensurate with experience and education. Differential pay offered for bilingual skills. EEO.

Additional Requirement

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a good driving record.
• Willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
• Employment subject to clearances, including background finger printing checks, driving record, tuberculosis testing, and drug testing.
