Responsible for finance duties related to students and student financial aid as described below
DUTIES:
- Processes all student, patient, and customer payments by
- Recording and preparing deposits for clinics and stores
- Recording and depositing student payments of tuition and fees
- Helps students with transactions and payments as needed
- Reviews and reconciles student statements as needed
- Reviews and verifies tuition and fee amounts for financial aid students prior to issuance of stipends
- Maintains petty cash
- Generates reports for departmental review and verification of budget items quarterly and as needed
- Participates in proper, legal, and ethical administration of all financial aid administered through, by, and on behalf of the US Department of Education, AOMA, and all such agencies
- Initiates, processes, and manages student loan requests, resolves processing conflicts, accounts for financial aid funds, verifies student enrollment, processes Master Promissory Notes, distributes financial aid award letters to students
- Communicates with third-party servicer regarding all aspects of financial aid process
- Responsible for entry of relevant financial aid data and recordkeeping
- Completes online transmission and receipt of data with our third-party servicer
- Conducts federal financial aid entrance and exit counseling
- Processes transactions, answers questions, resolves issues, and provides excellent customer service to students receiving financial aid
- Receives, copies, and posts tuition payments into the Student Billing portion of our Student Information System
- Posts and files paperwork in appropriate electronic and hardcopy file locations as needed
- Creates monthly reports of tuition A/R from our student information system and reconciles student balances to A/R reports
- Follows up on past due statements
- Looks for and assesses areas for improvement
- Helps and is available for other projects/tasks as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of one year experience as a bookkeeper or equivalent work experience
- Strong interpersonal skills. Self- motivated, takes initiative, pays attention to details, and is able to multi-task
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to meet deadlines and to protect confidential information
- Computer skills and ability and willingness to learn required software like Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and use of financial spreadsheets
- Associates or BA in accounting
- 2 years experience as a bookkeeper
- Experience with various business software and information systems such as Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Student information systems like Populi
- Attend events where standing may be required for several hours at a time
- Walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and twisting as needed
- Occasionally moves/transports, lifts up to 25 pounds
- Communicates, detects, discerns, conveys, expresses oneself, discusses and exchanges information
- Determines, distinguishes, identifies, recognizes, perceives, estimates, judges, inspects, compares, observes, assesses
- Attention to detail essential, including proofreading documents and lines of text and numbers, visual discrimination
