Description The Office of Regional Centers and Online Programs at the University of Tennessee at Martin is searching for a Student Services Assistant located in Martin, Tennessee. This multifaceted position is under the guidance of the Executive Director of Regional Centers and Online Programs and the Dual Enrollment Coordinator. This position will provide advising support to strengthen dual enrollment student success and retention at the University of Tennessee at Martin while working with students to assess their needs for academic success, seamless progression, and retention.
This position will also be responsible for the development of departmental marketing, social media platforms, websites, and printed material. Job Duties include: Provide academic advising support for dual enrollment students through proactive advising techniques. Monitor academic progress of assigned dual enrollment students; verification and follow up for no-show reporting and mid-term reporting. Assist students in gaining a basic understanding of the course registration process through registration events. Maintain course content and student enrollment/progression in the Dual Enrollment Orientation course.
Plan and implement student success orientations at participating high schools. Assist students with navigation through the UT Martin Portal and Canvas LMS Platform. Collaborate with high school counselors to address student needs/issues when appropriate and refer, them as needed.
Refer students to the Office of Student Success and placement services. Coordinate Dual Enrollment Program high school visits to the UT Martin campus. Maintain knowledge of academic programs, curriculum, and policies/procedures. Coordinate with the Office of Academic Affairs and academic departments to ensure the accuracy of advising materials distributed to students, faculty, and staff.
Provide information about UT Martin and promote relevant programs to dual enrollment students, refer to as needed. Advise dual enrollment students regarding seamless pathways to academic degrees and transfer opportunities with UT Martin. Assist students in interpreting and understanding placement scores, program curricula, prerequisites, etc. Responsible for the development of departmental marketing, social media platforms, websites, and printed material.
Assist/Present Dual Enrollment programming at events. Assist Executive Director of Regional Centers and Online Programs and Dual Enrollment Coordinator as needed. Will require some evening and local travel.
Other duties as assigned for the Office of Regional Centers and Online Programs.Minimum Qualifications: High school degree with six years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor's Degree with one-two year of office experience Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree Experience working for a higher education institution, campus operations, and student support Skills: Ability to interact and collaborate with a diversity of individuals. Must have excellent oral, written, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Must be skilled in the use of office equipment: computers, calculators, fax, printer, copier, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Social Media platforms. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, initiative, and strong decision-making skills required.
