Job description

Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include preparing and maintaining accurate records.Knowledge - is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.

Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include current generation records software.Ability - is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide variety of data and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment.

Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include being attentive to detail; establishing and maintaining effective working relations; communicating with persons of multiple technical knowledge and skill; maintaining confidentiality; and working with frequent interruptions.Responsibilities - include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures.

Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services. Work Environment - the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 20% walking, 0% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.Experience - Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. History with SIS Infinite Campus and programming is preferred.Education - Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services and Safety RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Director of Student Services and Safety JOB GOAL: The job of the Student Information Systems (SIS) Administrator is the managing of the Student Information database systems; providing instruction and advice to system users; analyzing problems and issues related to the SIS and related software; coordinating usage among all system users; and producing a wide variety of statistical and state reports.

Norfolk Public Schools SIS program is in Infinite Campus. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 days per year which includes vacation, paid holidays and leaves as directed by the Classified Staff Handbook. EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job functionDatabase ManagerMaintain district-wide Student Information SystemAssist in tracking SIS licenses and agreementsAssist in assessing district SIS needs including preview of new software and hardware to recommend for purchaseMonitor, schedule, and implement SIS updatesDevelop SIS procedures to monitor data accuracyDevelop procedures to create and maintain staff, student, and parent SIS user accounts and rightsMaintain consistent data transition between school yearsMonitor and manage SIS SQL ServerCollaborate with District Technology staff on database and programming issuesCreate and maintain processes for recurring data exports and data checks utilizing SSIS packages, batch scripts, Windows scheduled tasks, and secure FTP transactions.Create and maintain custom SSRS reportsAct as main contact between district and SIS supportAct as district troubleshooter / helpdesk.

Escalate cases as neededParticipate in state SIS user group meetings and conferencesIntegrate SIS with other systemsKeep current on new software technologies and their educational and management usesCreate and maintain automated exports of Student Information to create network accountsCreate and maintain automated and manual exports of class, teacher, and Student Information for external programs such as Library, testing, and subject area programsDevelop complementary databases for additional SIS data processing such as Sr High Hall PassManage state reporting submissions and collaborate with appropriate data stakeholdersOversee and update Point Of Sale cafeteria terminalsImport Student Information such as ACT, NWEA, and state test scoresDatabase TrainerCreate training documents for office and teaching staff to correctly enter and retrieve information in all areas of SISProvide guidance, instruction, and support to staff members regarding use of SIS, parent portal, telephone / email messenger, teacher grade book, Ad Hoc filters, custom SSRS reports, and other SIS functionsBroaden and deepen use of SIS components across the districtDatabase AssistantRespond to data requests using program reports, Ad Hoc filters, SQL scripts, and custom SSRS reportsDownload and disseminate state student reports and statisticsSend district-wide Messenger calls and emails for staff who have building-only rightsAssist with scheduling setup and the actual scheduling processSync SIS and HR staff information submitted to NDEOversee regular imports of FRAM eligibility and reportingOTHER DUTIES:Perform other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
