Financial Aid Advisor
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for advising students and parents regarding all Financial Aid matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Counsel students/parents on available funding options through in person meetings, written correspondence, and telephone work.
- Assist students/parents on completion of the FAFSA and Financial Aid forms.
- Analyze FAFSA and all required Financial Aid documentation for accuracy and federal guidelines.
- Submit ISIR corrections.
- Collect and analyze tax information to complete the verification process.
- Initiate professional judgement process.
- Package new and continuing students with Federal Financial Aid in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Run credit checks for Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans.
- Certify private student loans.
- Revise Financial Aid offers.
- Respond to student inquiries.
- Attending orientation, open house, and student workshops.
- Conduct Financial Aid exit counseling sessions.
- Attend weekly Financial Aid and admissions meetings.
- Provide weekly updates on the funding status of students.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Two (2) years’ experience preferred working in a Financial Aid office performing the above duties.
- Successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and sensitivity to working with students
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with ED systems: COD, FAA Access to CPS Online and NSLDS preferred
- Must be able to multitask, problem solve, be organized and adaptable to change.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing,
- Self-motivated and ability to meet deadlines.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Postsecondary education preferred.
HOURS
- 40 hours per week
- Occasional evening hours required
