A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's academic programs and collaborate with staff and administration to ensure students and guests are provided with opportunities and services to help them succeed.
Essential Duties:
Tutors will provide individual one-on-one or organize group tutoring on all courses taught in the School of Business. Tutors will:
- Clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Review class material, discuss the text, and formulate ideas for papers, or work on solutions to problems.
- Teach students to navigate business basics in Bloomberg terminal, financial markets and US and World economies, and money management.
- Learn core academic concepts and skills that can help them succeed in the classroom and in life.
- Reinforce essential business skills and concepts in areas such as critical thinking, decision making, cooperation, communication, and independent research.
Qualifications:
- Full-Time FMU student with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Must be currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Ability to communicate and work with professors and students. Must be able to speak in front of groups and work well in teams. Student Assistant should also demonstrate responsibility, initiative and time management skills.
- Ability to take directions and work independently as needed.
- Technical Skills: knowledge of technology/office equipment and willingness to learn new information systems and software; proficiency in the use of computer applications and MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word).Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
