Student Assistant - Miller Center for Student Disability Services
Salary/Grade:$11.30/hr - $12.30/hr
Job Summary:The Student Assistant (SA) will provide general clerical support in the daily operation of the Miller Center for Student Disability Services (MCSDS) located in the Shriver Center. The SA provides courteous, dependable, and professional customer service and serves as additional administrative support in a professional office environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to expand your understanding of how Disability Services operates in a higher education environment and access is provided.
Essential Duties:Duties may include front desk coverage and answering the phone during the lunch hour, monitoring email, greeting office visitors, taking complete messages, filing, copying and data entry, and monitoring appointments and other jobs as requested. Work assignments will be completed under close supervision. Students will work under the direction of multiple staff members who will provide a variety of tasks and responsibilities. Responsible work a in high impact office environment is required.
Minimum Qualifications:The preferred candidate will:
- have the ability to effectively use Word, Excel, G-Mail, Google Docs, etc.;
- be open-minded, interpersonally-skilled, and dedicated both to the office and to the students we serve;
- possess an attitude of professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality;
- be dependable and punctual;
- have excellent organizational skills; and
- be a registered college student.
Preference may be given to first- and second-year students and to students who have the availability to work during the lunch hour. Past experience working in an office environment is also a benefit.
