Structural Designer (Bridge Designer)

ICE of Carolinas, PLLC (ICE) is seeking a Structural Designer (Bridge Designer) to join our North Carolina-based team in the Raleigh office. The EIT will play a crucial role in helping the design team ensure that the infrastructure designs meet technical and safety standards, budget, and timeline constraints. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with NCDOT Design Practices and experience working on Design-Bid-Build projects.
Position Summary
The Structural Design Engineer will perform the following job duties including but not limited to the analysis and design of structural components for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structural systems. Deliver technical solutions to clients typically in the form of contract documents such as construction plans, design calculations, and project specifications A high level of attention to detail is required for this position. Job duties include structural design utilizing AASHTO and other applicable design specifications as well as state and local design requirements. Job duties also include task management, seismic design, bridge/culvert inspection, load rating, review and approval of construction submittals, quality control, communication with clients, and additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 0-4 years of experience with transportation projects.
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build projects.
- Advanced knowledge of NCDOT Design Practices.
- Experience with computer programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Open Roads, or similar programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- EIT in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- US Citizen or Legal Resident with a current driver’s license with a minimum 3-year safe driving record.
- Candidate must complete a pre-employment screening.
Expected Hours of Work
This is an on-site full-time position (40 hours per week). The work schedule is Monday through Friday. The ICE offices are open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. The office is located at 4505 Falls of Neuse Rd. Suite 110, Raleigh NC 27609.

The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee would encounter with performing the essential functions of a job in an office environment.
