Role Definition
Reporting directly to the SVP of Building Construction Products (BCP) division, this role is responsible for facilitating the development of a clear, comprehensive divisional strategy and vision, through strong collaboration with senior leadership, SME’s and the SVP. The strategy should center around enabling profitable growth, clarifying strategic imperatives across all defined aspects of the business (services, expanded offerings, sustainability and operational excellence). Improving performance, and consequently supporting the achievement of mid-to long terms financial objectives. This role will be responsible to clearly construct, communicate and align the BCP strategy throughout the organization, enabling efficient execution, as well as providing articulate, transparent visibility to progress.
This role is global and thus requires up to 50% travel (including extensive international travel) and is located in Cary, NC. Relocation is available. Meaningful experience preferred in vision and strategy development , transformative program commissioning, robust internal and external communications, traditional and social media skills, and direct involvement in effectively crafting strategic information dissemination, and communications, across a large complex global organization.
Responsibilities
Works closely with the SVP, VP/GMs, other senior leaders and SMEs throughout the organization to define key elements to achieve visionary goals, develop the divisional strategy and support achievement of both mid- and long-term financial objectives.
Leads comprehensive, effective and consistent communications of the overarching vision, requiring the ability to articulate fundamental aspects of strategy development and execution.
Creates a clear understanding of the imperatives required to execute the strategy.
Participates in the definition and execution of the business strategy at all levels of the organization.
Supports, promotes, and provides visibility to BCP division organization values, leader attributes and cultural elements which contribute to business success.
Develops a process for prioritization, collaboration, and execution of the strategic plan.
Establishes and develops consistent standards across the global BCP operating footprint (KPI definition, visual management, lean, sustainability, and overall consistency in facility physical standardized attributes), including inclusive governance to monitor execution and process adherence.
Supports SVP and Division CFO in facilitating divisional governance structure and cadence.
Supports SVP to prioritize effective planning, time allocation and project implementation adherence.
Supports HR to establish best practices for communicating the overall vision and strategic elements, to enhance understanding, engagement, inclusion and participation across the division.
Works closely with HR and divisional communication to ensure all internal communication around vision and strategy is clear, consistent and aligned to imperatives, goals and values.
Supports SVP to develop materials for key executive level reporting sessions, including annual reviews with the Caterpillar executive office.
Works closely with CI Mission Control team and other digital tools architechts to provide business input, accelerating deployment of technology-enabled tools and instruments to communicate strategic elements and connect to tactical reporting capabilities (eg: Power BI, PPT, videography, other modern applications).
Leads strategy organization including senior manager – strategy, and other individual contributors assigned to strategic development.
