Job Summary
To serve as the lead for Strategic Projects in a specialized industry where decisions and recommendations are made for strategic advantage and contribute to the Division’s business and long-term leadership position.
What you will do :
This position is accountable for leading strategic projects for the Engine Castings segment in E&T Procurement. This is a multi-disciplined role that will require technical familiarity of Caterpillar procurement processes, ability to organize and prioritize complex problems, leadership experience, and strong interpersonal skills.
The incumbent will lead the development and execution of Engine Castings strategic projects to improve the resiliency of the supply base and the efficiency of the team.
This position requires a person to communicate effectively across product, industry, and/or supplier audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations. Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar. Requires less than 20% travel to understand regional or worldwide business conditions.
Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
What you Will have:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Business, or an equivalent level of work experience.
- Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
- Minimum 2 years purchasing experience.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Experience with 6 Sigma and/or Lean tools.
- Experience with a governance role.
- PowerBI experience.
