SAIC is seeking a Strategic Communication Intern that is ready to have a real insight into the world of work, test your skills in real-life situations, explore your career options and gain an insight into an organization or career path. Location of work is Reston, VA. (hybrid remote)
Throughout an SAIC internship you will develop a variety of soft skills, including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and influencing skills. Internships are great opportunities to speak directly to people who have experience in the role you aspire to; and their knowledge of the job and working environment will give you a greater understanding of what it’s all about and what you need to do to progress.
- Position will be an intern in the Corporate Communications office of SAIC.
- Duties for this position will include corporate communications, writing, editing and social media, as well as special projects.
- Provides non-technical or administrative support, either within the company or in support of customer contracts, on assignments using established procedures.
- Candidates work usually relates to or supports current course of college study. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content).
- Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Full knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
Supervision Received: Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
IMPACT: Errors may be difficult to detect and would normally result in loss of time or expense to correct.
LIAISON: Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department of which may be a sensitive nature.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School and five (5) years or more related experience. Must be enrolled in college.
- Skills required include solid writing, social media and curiosity and eagerness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills enable the candidate to collaborate effectively with teams and deliver results.
- Hard-working and adaptable approach to challenging situations, proactively seeking solutions even under pressure.
- Driven by a passion for communications.
CITIZENSHIP: U.S citizenship required
