This position will act as a primary technical principal and is responsible for delivery of Storage solutions at an enterprise level. Expertise in Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) SAN and NetApp NAS technologies and experience with a multi Data Center environment. Candidates for this position must be able to, from day one, roll up their sleeves and hit the ground running, and to bring their experience to the team to make the project deployments much smoother.
The tasks for the Storage Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide Senior Level Storage Systems Server setup, administration, configurations, and automated implementations.
- Help support State Fund's HDS and NetApp environments services and resources for optimal efficiency, functionality, security and management.
- Oversee planning, design, implementation, and operation of HDS and NetApp Storage Arrays. infrastructure projects and participate in the specification of business requirements and implementation plans.
- Provide operational support and experience with managing virtualized infrastructures.
- Participate in Capacity planning and Disaster Recovery.
- Help define, improve promote architecture and standards based on ITIL best practices.
- Assist and support all Development and troubleshoot complex application issues.
- Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to other team resources and to customers.
- Provide infrastructure design, implementation planning, deployment support, software strategy. system troubleshooting, performance engineering and optimization, maintenance strategy.
- Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and mentorship to State Fund internal engineering peers as required and lead technical staff responsibilities.
- Drive requirements and technical due-diligence and infrastructure design.
- Secures Storage Systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
- Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Acting as the primary infrastructure design, contact on projects, providing leadership, advice on HDS and NetApp systems.
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to an alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- 10+ years related system engineering/Infrastructure and customer support experience.
- 5+ years' experience in enterprise corporate infrastructure design, implementation and troubleshooting,
- 5+ years with both Storage Management NAS/SAN Arrays (NetApp, HDS).
- 5+ years' experience with SAN switches (a plus on Brocade Switches).
- 5+ years' experience with Hitachi Command Suite (Storage Navigator, Tuning Manager, Replication).
- 2+ years' experience with NetApp Cluster Mode.
- 5+ years supporting Datacenter co-located equipment.
- Extensive experience in supporting HDS and NetApp systems.
- Extensive experience with Installing, configuring and maintaining HDS and NetApp systems.
- Must have around 8+ years of NetApp and HDS Experience with 5+ years of demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing and maintaining Storage Systems.
- Extensive experience with migration of HDS and NetApp storage, design, architecture and implementation.
- Extensive experience with security for NetApp and Hitachi Data Systems.
- Experience and knowledge of Windows, Linux and Unix Operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Active Directory 2003/2008, networking and security concepts.
