Job Summary

All Field Associate positions at our gas station convenience stores are considered a crucial part of the company. This Job Description pertains to all hourly field employees, except where duties are itemized by Job Title. AMG prides itself on promoting from within and therefore an employee’s Job Title may change over time. The current Job Title for each employee is stated in the employee’s ADP WorkforceNow Employment Profile.

Sales Floor Stock Clerks ensure the front of the house is clean, stocked, and priced right for our customers. The primary focus of the Sales Floor Stock Clerk is working with inventory and assisting customers on the sales floor as well as keeping customer facing areas clean.

Fuel Attendants dispense fuel for the customer providing friendly, fast, accurate service. The primary focus for the Fuel Attendant is to keep the fueling stations clean, neat, and organized promoting an inviting and safe work environment.

Sales Associates are the face of the site and our front-line position between our company and all our customers. The primary focus of the Sales Associate is customer service including greetings, communication, site preparation, cleaning, and safety.

The goal of the Sales Associate Team Lead is to lead and motivate a team of Sales Associates in Service Excellence.

Assistant Managers serve as an example for employees and assist Store Managers in implementing and enforcing Sales Associate, Team Lead, and Fuel Attendant work duties at the site. Responsibilities include customer service, cash management, training, product ordering, environmental compliance, and BP Helios or other Brand / third party site inspection checklists.

Duties and Responsibilities

ALL FIELD EMPLOYEES
• Provides great customer service by greeting the customer, smiling, and thanking them for their business. Greeting all customer must be second nature; all customers must feel welcome and accommodated to.
• Full uniform is required (closed toe shoes, Brand shirt, name tag, Brand hat and Safety Vest).
• No cell phone use (unless emergency).
• All employees must be trained and able to follow emergency procedures.
• Keeping our work area clean is for our customers and our employee’s safety. Garbage must be checked and empty routinely. Pumps, garbage containers and other equipment must be cleaned and free of loose debris at all time. Site must always be ready and equipped to service our customers.
• Crucial that all employees have a basic understanding of the equipment and components of operating the site. Simple troubleshooting should be basic knowledge for all employees to help eliminate unnecessary down time.

SALES FLOOR STOCK CLERK
• Open, unpack deliveries and stock shelves, racks, coolers, cases, bins with merchandise according to store planogram.
• Stock supplies on the sales floor as needed.
• Clean display cases, racks, coolers, shelves, aisles, and equipment as instructed.
• Clean and stock restrooms as instructed.
• Empty trash receptacles and remove cardboard boxes as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock in the pump area and parking lot.
• Clean windows, pumps, and other areas as required.
• Answer customer questions about merchandise.
• Assist with merchandise price changes as needed.

FUEL ATTENDANT
• Listens carefully to the grade and amount of gas the customer wants and verifies what they heard before dispensing.
• Activates fuel pumps and fills gas tanks with proper grade of gas/diesel to specific amount the customer requested.
• Collects payments of cash or credit from the customer and provides the customer with receipts and correct change if paying with cash. Employees are responsible for checking the bills accepted by customers.
• Handles money safely dropping frequently and working efficiently out of pocket.
• Answers customer questions and give directions.
• Follows all state, federal, and local regulations regarding the dispensing of fuel.
• Keeps parking lots clean emptying outside trash, cleaning pumps, and sweeping.
• Clears oil and gas spills in accordance with all safety standards and properly disposes of the hazardous material.
• Cleans the DPT readers and fills the receipt paper checking for tampering of the credit card reader.
• Reports any evidence of tampering to management immediately.
• Notifies management of any equipment malfunctions.
• Replenishes outside supplies: window wash, paper towels, credit card applications.
• Keeps outside displays fully stocked, rotated, and fronted noticing when they create a safety hazard and reporting the hazard to management.
• Completes an attendant break and paperwork at the end of their shift.
• Knows emergency procedures and where the emergency shut off is located.
• Performs other duties as requested by the manager.
• Must be able to accept cash and return proper change to customers. Employees are also responsible for making safe drops when their cash exceeds the threshold set at the site.

SALES ASSOCIATE
• Reconciling the fuel reports; ensuring no discrepancies are being made.
• Responsible for sales made; sales may include lottery, alcohol and / or other products.
• Reconciling the shift worked is a responsibility of all employees.
• Shift reports and cash deposited or drop in the safe must match and is the responsibility of the employee. Employees are responsible for checking the bills accepted by customers.
• Cashiers are expected to open and close their shift and count crucial inventory items.
• Responsibility of the Sales Associate to ensure accurate counts are made and reconciled after every shift.
• Keeping the site fully stocked, clean, and safe.
• Responsible for merchandise that should be stocked using FIFO philosophy (First in First Out).
• Merchandise should not be expired or outdated, labels on product show price, and cleanliness of our merchandise and gondolas are all a key in controlling inventory.
• Must be able to accept cash and return proper change to customers. Employees are also responsible for making safe drops when their cash exceeds the threshold set at the site.

SALES ASSOCIATE TEAM LEAD
• Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in leading and supervising the team of Sales Associates in performing Customer Service Excellence.
• Offer exemplary performance in Sales Associate duties to lead team by example.
• All other Sales Associate functions as listed above.

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
• The Assistant Manager must be a model example for all employees.
• AMs help enforce high standard of customer service, resolve issues and deescalate confrontation.
• Assist in ensuring all employees are properly trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities and completing daily tasks to ensure proper function of the site. Training employees on the register, lottery machine, customer service, and shift reconciling is a crucial managerial task, to ensure accuracy of accountability and efficient use of time.
• Train employees to be able to follow emergency procedures.
• Must assist in keeping an organized and easily accessible record of fuel inventory reconciliation and environment and fire checklist.
• Assistant Managers are responsible for reviewing cashier and fuel attendant shift in Manager’s absence, funding the ATM on site with the cash from the current day, preparing all reports from the ATM, and the Day Report reconciliation.
• Assistant Managers have the responsibility to assist in keeping the site properly stocked, for replenishing merchandise in the store, and for other Sales Associate related functions.
• Accountable for ordering merchandise; an ordering schedule will be made and should be followed as routinely as possible.
• Must assist in the managing of staff.
• Must have basic knowledge in computers and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• In NYC all gas station managers must have a P15.
• Must have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.

Qualifications
• Must be of legal age to work in the state or local city or town.
• English speaking proficiency is required, communication is the key to customer service.
• Ability to be able to handle cash, accepting payment from customers and returning change properly.
• Must be punctual; time and attendance is a critical part of customer service.
• Honesty, integrity, and respect are held in high regard when dealing with customers, coworkers, vendors and supervisors.

• Frequent lifting of 5-10lbs and occasional lifting up to 50lbs
• Able to stand up to 8 hours
• Perform the following physical behaviors frequently: standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching horizontally, reaching above the shoulders
• Clarity of vision near/ far distances and acceptable level of hearing
• Able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 39 degrees for 30 minutes
• Able to climb a ladder to do windows, reach equipment, reach store supplies etc.
• Able to stock shelves on the sales floor and in the cooler
• Able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry out trash and place in outside bin
• Able to clean pumps, parking lots and surrounding grounds
• Able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products
• Reliable transportation; must be able to attend mandatory trainings
