Primary duties
Processes decontaminated medical devices, as received according to established priorities, medical device instructions for use and best practices. Receives instruments from decontamination area and processes appropriately. Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine basis, including but not limited to cleaning the workspace, instrument room, workstations and carts, emptying biohazard wastes and monitoring all equipment. Knowledge of a wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room as well as throughout the hospital. Ability to operate all sterilization and processing equipment, prioritize and organize the department and assignments, and to work independently and as a team. Will rotate weekends.
H.S. Diploma or GED with
2 years’ experience in a hospital Sterile Processing or completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course.
Duties:
- Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s
- Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
- Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine daily basis, including but not limited to cleaning
monitors.
- Completes sterilization processes.
- Performs high level disinfection.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
Skills:
- Knowledge of a wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room and throughout the Hospital.
- Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment, to prioritize and organize, and to work independently
Education:
Required- H.S. Diploma or GED OR
Required Other Central Services Technician Course
Required- 2 years Experience in hospital instrument processing OR
Required- Completion of a Central Services Technician Course
