The client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to join our team.
Position Overview:
As a Sterile Compounding Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of intravenous medications for our long-term care patients. You will work closely with a team of experienced pharmacy professionals to deliver pharmaceutical care that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- IV Medication Compounding: Oversee preparation by technicians and prepare sterile IV medications and parenteral nutrition solutions accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Medication Review: Conduct medication order reviews to ensure appropriateness, accuracy, and patient-specific requirements are met.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine quality control checks on compounding processes and maintain aseptic technique to prevent contamination.
- Patient Safety: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of IV medications, monitoring for potential drug interactions, adverse effects, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards for Sterile Compounding.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of all IV compounding activities, patient profiles, and medication orders.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacy technicians and other staff to coordinate IV medication orders and ensure timely delivery to long-term care facilities.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in IV compounding techniques, pharmaceutical products, and regulatory requirements through ongoing education and training.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medication-related emergencies and provide guidance on proper handling and administration.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Active pharmacist license in the state of NJ.
- Board of Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Certification (preferred).
- Prior experience in IV compounding in a closed-door or long-term care pharmacy setting (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and software for prescription processing.
Salary: $50-$60/Hour
