Young STEAMers is a non profit organization that brings a unique STEAM enrichment program to kids from underserved, at-risk families. This program was developed to instill a love of science in young kids (ages 4-14) via an innovative curriculum. In this unique program, the kids learn various topics in science with hands-on activities that turn into interesting artworks pleasing to the eye and intriguing to the mind.

Young STEAMers is looking for instructors with science background and classroom experience working with young students to join our team. These individuals will be focused on teaching existing STEAM classes to kids ages 4-14 (divided in groups by age). Instructors will be trained in all aspects of teaching the lessons, and all necessary lesson plans, activity materials, worksheets, and PowerPoint slides will be provided.

We are looking for instructors in SF Bay area and Monterey County

Responsibilities:

Deliver content to children in a fun and engaging manner while maintaining the STEAM hands-on and creative thinking philosophy

Attending the required training sessions (paid), and becoming comfortable with all aspects of the class material

Perform any necessary preparation to ensure that the class runs smoothly

The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching science to young kids, have proven teaching experience (no teaching license or credentials are required), and should be comfortable working with the existing curriculum (see classes offered youngsteamers.org/programs ).

Qualifications for the successful candidate:

• Comfortable engaging with and motivating Children
• Good at being gentle and fun as well as maintain order in class
• Maintain a professional attitude at all times
• Reliable, organized, and punctual

Requirements

• Science background
• Live in the SF Bay Area or in Monterey County
• Proven teaching experience (kids ages 4-14)
• Passion for education
• Enjoy STEAM-themed projects
• US work authorization
• Ability to pass a background check and LiveScan fingerprinting (TB test if needed) and proof of COVID vaccination
• Able to start ASAP
• Conversational Spanish is a plus
