M.S. Walker New Jersey is in a cycle of explosive year-over-year growth. Our objective is to find and develop local leadership to facilitate continued and responsible growth in the Garden State. The New Jersey State Manager will be accountable for all sales activities in the state and will be tasked with motivating and inspiring the sales team. The ideal New Jersey State Manager is someone who can both provide leadership to a a high-performing sales team, while also achieving and exceeding goals and targets.
Responsibilities:
- Foster and develop relationships between the sales team, key suppliers, and the network of accounts in the NJ market
- Collaborate with and support direct sales team; on the road with and without sales representatives 4 days per week
- Optimize and develop sales representatives' routes
- Identify top unsold groups, co-ops, chains, accounts, and onboard to MSW
- Open On-Premise restaurants (NJ based regional chains and independents)
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales revenue growth in line with stated overall division sales goals
- Document regular meetings with the sales team and action plans
- Ensure all sales reps carry POS material on the road and that MSW items are merchandised wherever possible
- Monitor and enforce all family plan pricing regulations and levels
- Sample usage review monthly with direction from GM
- Ensure all tasting and events are in lockstep with local compliance
- Monitor customer refusals
- Identify opportunities for Brand Management; work in tandem to drive business through pricing, market work, supplier visits, and market work recaps
- Manage co-op pricing, chain opportunities, and BTG programming; oversee all co-op licenses and group buying between sales reps and customers
- Responsible for annual review of M.S. Walker documented plan and communicate market conditions and changes
- Hold reps accountable for increased product knowledge: current prices, vintages, regional identity, awards, press, and identifying competitive sets
- Ensure your teams' optimal collaboration with, and use of, internal resources: Accounts Receivables (Credit), Customer Service contact, and Marketing/Creative Services
- Manage “Training Camp” planning for all new sales hires
- Conduct semi-annual reviews with all Sales Representatives to build more effective communication, to understand training and development needs and to provide insight for the improvement of individual sales and activity performance.
- Talent Recruitment: continuously develop leads for top quality sales professionals
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years wine and spirits and/or distributor industry experience
- New JerseyState Sales management experience
- Demonstrated sales team leadership and talent development experience
- Candidates located in northern New Jersey preferred
