This is a remote position; preference to candidates located in Michigan or Indiana.
As an AES Stakeholder Engagement Analyst your primary focus is to:
- Accountable for the development and implementation of state and project-specific engagement plans and related budgets that align with the company’s brand positioning and support its development objectives.
- Maintain, cultivate, and document relationships and engagement activities with key leadership within affected communities, local organizations, and Indigenous communities. Key stakeholders may include local government officials, business leaders, landowners, emergency responders, and non-government organizations. Where this involves Indigenous people, this engagement is consistent with the principles contained in AES’ Voluntary Tribal Engagement Policy.
- Build and maintain strong internal relationships with cross-functional teams, including development, permitting, execution, construction and others. Informing the team of potential project risks, opportunities, stakeholder concerns and critical engagement activities.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Research, engage, and build strategic partnerships within local communities hosting AES projects in alignment with project educational and collaboration needs and partnerships supporting AES’ Social Impact Program.
- Create and maintain accurate lists of stakeholders in project areas. Collect, analyst, and document stakeholder feedback and interactions through the utilization of our digital Stakeholder Relations management tool.
- Draft, collaborate, and distribute targeted external communications, in coordination with AES Communications such as informational handouts, talking points, presentations, and public meeting displays, to bolster local presence and maintain open project communications.
- Monitor project toll-free phone lines and project emails as well as social and traditional media.
- Complete needed administrative tasks such as processing invoices, mailings, ordering marketing materials, and managing an events and communications calendar.
- Participate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transition.

- University degree from a related post-secondary program.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in stakeholder engagement, preferably in the energy sector, particularly in energy industry / energy transportation infrastructure sector.
- Awareness of and experience in engaging with diverse, thriving communities of all sizes from small and/or rural to city centers.
- Familiar with understanding applicable government and regulatory requirements on projects and application of this information to community dynamics.
- Experience with MS Office Suite, QuickBase, Box, Microsoft Teams.
- Experience or willingness to learn and utilize new tools & systems, including Quorum, Grasshopper Virtual Phone System and Drupal.
- Solid written and verbal communication, presentation, and organizational abilities.
- Strong research and analytical skills to quickly analyze complex situations, research topics appropriately, determine key issues and messages, and implement solution focused programs.
