In this role, you will be part of a talented team working together to envision and design the next generation of portable energy storage.
What will you do
- Define requirements and generate design specifications for items integral to Enphase products.
- Perform quality analysis and integrate results into details of design and development of mechanical components and subassemblies.
- Utilize internal and standardized design tools including SolidWorks and similar mechanical simulation/analysis tools.
- Ensure that product mechanical designs meet all functional performance requirements, robustness, and packaging constraints.
- Monitor and manage overseas suppliers to ensure that components meet quality standards and product launch schedule.
- Be responsible for group task scheduling and task organization of detail designed components, subassemblies, and final assemblies of internal products.
- Manage the product development lifecycles from concept to launch with cross-functional teams.
- Provide regular and critical project updates and identify strategies for mitigating execution and schedule risks to design engineering development.
- Define the engineering specifications, conduct DFMEA, and perform design validation tests (DVT).
- Mentor a team of Sr. and Jr. Mechanical Engineers.
Who you are and what you bring
- Masters degree in, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field
- 4+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience as a staff engineer or team lead.
- 3+ years experience using SolidWorks, Catia or similar mechanical CAD application;
- GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing);
- Kinematic analysis, FEA (finite element analysis), and CFD (computational fluid dynamic) simulation;
- Designing injection molded plastic parts; and inspection for FAI (first article inspection), CER and Cpk dimensions
- Designing sheetmetal parts with bent aluminum
- Experience with failure analysis and corrective action, coupled with experience with manufacturing processes with automotive or high-volume consumer electronics.
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability)
- Experience with DFA (Design for Assembly)
- Experience with Thermal testing and Thermal simulation analysis is a plus
- Experience with Li-ion batteries is a plus
