Job description

At Wisk, we're transforming the future of urban mobility through safe, all-electric, autonomous flight. We are a passionate team working together toward a sustainable future, solving high-impact problems that have never been solved before. By delivering everyday flight for everyone, we're making it possible to spend less time getting there and more time being there. If you want to be part of shaping the future of mobility, then read on!

We are looking for a FPGA Verification and Design Engineer to join our team.
Why we need you:
    • With that vision in mind, we are looking for a FPGA Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team working in the Powertrain Integrated Product Team (IPT). The goal of the FPGA Verification and Design Engineer at Wisk is to develop the DO-254 DAL-A Verification Process, Plans, Procedures and Test Benches for the Propulsion Motor Controller's FPGAs and also to design and develop the Battery Management (BMS) CPLD/FPGA. In order to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment.
    • The successful candidate has experience on a full life cycle DO-254 program, developing a verification suite from requirements capture phase all the way to FAA certification. The candidate has experience with design and test bench development using one or more of the following Hardware Description Languages (HDLs): VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog. The candidate has experience working and communicating with engineers in system design, systems test and electrical roles. In this role, the candidate must be a self-starter, able to execute their technical work to a challenging schedule and good at managing priorities.
What you will do:
    • Propulsion Motor Controller (~80% to 90%):
    • Participate in development of device level requirements for the Motor Controller FPGAs (working with systems, electrical and other FPGA engineers), to ensure requirements verifiability
    • Develop the DO-254 DAL-A Verification Test Plans to support the PHAC
    • Act as the Propulsion FPGA Verification Lead, to develop Test Procedures and Test Benches (leading team of contractors and other external engineers)
    • Develop and select automation tools for the FPGA verification process to implement CICD methodologies, with scripting (Perl, Python or other) working with IT & CMES
    • Support the design checkout and lab integration by helping to debug FPGAs by building a requirements based System-Verilog (UVM) verification suite from scratch and automate the whole process
    • Support the design with all the fault logs and metrics (code, assertion, functional) from the verification
    • Battery Management System (~10% to 20%):
    • Develop the Communications and Fault Logging CPLD/FPGA Design for the Battery Management System (BMS)
    • Develop PHAC and HDP
    • Capture design requirements, detail design documentation, component selection and VHDL coding
    • Run the development tools all the way through palace and rout, conduct informal on target lab testing and debug
    • You will help the Scrum Leaders in creating, organizing and executing the tasks in scope for your work and work of verification contractors.
    • You will help to document and improve the Wisk FPGA Verification and Design processes as part of Wisk's Continuous Improvement efforts.
    • Note: Candidates are expected to travel to Mountain View up to 20% of the time to participate in design reviews and lab testing (on-target and iron bird integration testing) during 2023-2024.
What you have done:
    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering discipline with at least 7 years of experience with DO-254 FPGA Design and/or Verification; (or M.S in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience).

    • You have participated on a FPGA DO-254 program that attained FAA's certification approval (via: TSO, STC or TC)
    • You have hands-on experience with Cadence or Synopsys tools for Verification and experience with Microsemi Libero or Xilinx Vivado tools for design (or other equivalent tools, including tools from Intel/Altera)
Desired:
    • You have applied knowledge of RTL/Assertion, Block Formal, Module and System Verification
    • You have applied knowledge of synthesis, STA and place and route
    • You are familiar with SCRUM/Sprint JIRA process
