We’re headquartered in Los Angeles and are looking to grow our team with a Staff Backend Engineer. This is a Hybrid positionin Los Angeles (Silverlake), not a remote position. A successful candidate must be willing to work in our office, on average, 2 to 3 days per week.
Responsibilities- Design, build, expand and maintain APIs and services both internal and external
- Lay the groundwork for early-stage products to iteratively evolve and scale
- Work with customer success teams to help developers integrate with the API
- Work with business stakeholders to launch new integrations, revenue streams, and capabilities for our data
- Align our technical decisions with Duro's broad strategic initiatives, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses
- Work with engineers across the company to understand when existing workflows can be leveraged vs. when building a new solution is prudent
- Work with other engineering teams to enable existing products to become resilient, performant, and robust
Requirements
Baseline Qualifications
- Have a strong technical background, including 6+ years of experience designing and engineering large-scale systems
- Ability to write high-quality code in Go or TypeScript
- Are comfortable working on a new product under fluid conditions, seamlessly balancing tactical and strategic considerations
- Love to design systems that are elegant abstractions over complex patterns/practices
- Internalize the best ideas from across the organization, humbly setting a vision that others are excited to get behind
- Experience mentoring and growing junior engineers
- Ability to tackle challenging problems creatively and effectively
- Thorough understanding of the role many of the technologies play in Duro’s company stack.
- Good understanding of Agile methodologies; We prefer the Linear Method ;)
- Must be a US Citizen (for ITAR compliance, please do not apply if otherwise)
Preferred Qualifications
- Have helped grow a new team or product and are excited about helping make a great team environment
- Experience building distributed applications or working with microservice architectures
- Experience in building GraphQL and RESTful APIs with authentication and authorization
- Experience working with Apache Kafka or other pub/sub systems
- Knowledge of web security practices and how to implement them in both frontend and backend development
- Bonus if familiar with PLM/CAD industry or physical product design

- Annual salary for these roles, based in Los Angeles, range from $150k to $180k
