Salary Range: $17.00/hr. (0 Years) - $21.00/hr. (8+ Years)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Support Associate builds positive rapport with students, assists in the supervision of students during nonacademic activities (i.e. Advisory, lunch, transitions, hallways, breaks, field trips, and assemblies) ab may assist during instructional times to uphold excellence in the school culture.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to understand, apply and use computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with all students, especially those students with special needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work "team player mentality".
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal forms.
- Ability to perform duties in a positive, professional manner
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of students to ensure a safe and positive school environment is maintained (60%)
1. Supervise students in large and small groups in halls, cafeterias and common areas of the school to ensure a safe environment.
2. Assist in the supervision of students inside the classroom during instructional and non-instructional times
3. Monitor students during Advisory periods as needed
4. Retrieve and audit student attendance and passes
5. Track student tardiness and conduct hall sweeps
6. Demonstrate, monitor, and encourage positive student behaviors and enforce school rules
7. Use conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to monitor and influence student behavior and refer students for discipline
8. Reinforce appropriate social and communication skills
9. Work with students with behavioral needs, replacing unacceptable behavior with acceptable behavior
10. Reinforce student learning of material or skills; assist students in a 1:1 tutoring basis or small group instruction in conjunction with teacher-prepared lesson plans
11. Administer make-up tests and lessons to students.
Assist with School Wide Systems (Arrival, Lunch, and Dismissal) (30%)
1. Assist the teacher daily with preparation, instruction, and clean-up of materials.
2. Interact with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
3. Communicate all relevant concerns about students to the teacher.
4. Observes and monitors student activities in a classroom setting.
5. Assists the teacher in maintaining order and building a positive classroom community.
Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned (10%)
1. Play an active role in all school wide systems with designated posts
2. Ensure all school-wide systems are conducted with fidelity by all stakeholders
3. Maintain a positive and safe experience during transitions
4. Demand high expectations for all students, and Communicate with parents accordingly
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position will work predominantly Monday - Friday during school hours; however, this position may require work on an occasional evening as necessary.
