MAJOR FUNCTION: The Staff Assistant is housed within the International Student Services Office and will report to the Coordinator of International Student Services. The Staff Assistant will perform a variety of clerical/secretarial and administrative support functions of moderate scope and complexity requiring exercising considerable judgment and initiative.
Primary duties will include. but are not limited to:
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and four (4) years of progressively responsible secretarial and/or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Associate's degree is highly desired and may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. The Bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of the required experience.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of and ability to use a PC. Knowledge and ability to use principles of correct grammar, spelling and vocabulary. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to organize work and coordinate assignments. Ability to show discretion and good judgment in handling confidential matters. Ability to compose correspondence and draft documents for review. Ability to communicate with the public, students and staff in a positive manner. Ability to make independent judgements.

- Provides clerical support to the Coordinator of International Student Services. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for the Department of Homeland Security. Assists with SEVIS monitoring system with USICE, the issue of I-20's and DS-2019's, and student compliance with USCIS rules regarding maintaining legal and valid status in the United States
- Assist in providing detailed information and answering a variety of questions related to admissions, orientation, advising, and the registration processes.
- Provides support in processing forms, updating materials, reviews information in the TCC student information system and interprets several information screens.
- Assist Coordinator in coordination and planning of International Education Week and other fundraising events. Other duties as assigned.
