Staff Accountant Job Summary
Our company is currently experiencing rapid growth and we are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting and Finance team in Atlanta, GA at our beautiful location in Buckhead. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in maintenance of the general ledger, financial reporting process, month-end and year-end closing, making journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations, maintaining prepaids and accruals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize, plan, and prepare month and quarter-end financial closing in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, including the following:
- Reconcile Cash, Prepaid and Accrued Expense Accounts monthly
- Fixed Asset Reconciliation/ Rollforward
- Record journal entries for payroll
- Record journals for credit card transactions and expense accruals
- Review vendor bills for accurate General Ledger coding in the A/P system (Bill.com)
- Participate in monthly financial close processes ensuring accurate and timely results
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple locations and ensure that there is a systematic and streamlined process backup in place for every critical operation
- Participate in special projects to improve accounting department operational efficiency and to improve policies and procedures.
- Intercompany transactions and corporate allocation
- Assist with budget preparation, audits and other accounting projects in the office
- Review Income Statement and perform variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain workpapers
- Assist management in assessing current accounting processes and internal controls, implementing continuous improvement, and documenting revised processes.
- Ad hoc reporting or projects as assigned by manager
Knowledge and Abilities Requirement:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail Oriented, with ability to analyze reports and data
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet the assigned deadlines
- Healthcare Industry experience preferred but not required
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- At least 1-2 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable & Accrued Expenses, Accounts Receivable, Cash, Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, General Ledger and Adjusting Entries
- NetSuite experience preferred but not required
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
