JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing and Organizing Financial Transactions:
- Meet reporting deadlines.
- Support month- and year-end close processes.
- Help maintain accounting ledgers.
- Assist with reconciliation of various trial balance accounts.
- Prepare, verify, allocate, and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP standards.
- Perform ad-hoc requests and financial analysis, as required.
- Compiling and Reviewing Financial Statements:
- Record transactions
- Review and approve journal entries before generating financial statements.
- Assist with analyzing financial statements prior to submission to the corporate office.
- Evaluating Accounting Systems:
- Inspect the design, documentation, and controls of the financial systems to assess their effectiveness when capturing and recording transactions.
- Confirming Tax Liability:
- Calculate various tax liabilities (i.e. property tax, sales and use tax, income tax)
- Preparing and filing tax returns, as required
- Ensure tax advisors are provided with applicable information to book appropriate federal and state income tax assets and liabilities.
- Recommending Accounting Best Practices:
- Equip decision-makers with the financial data needed to solve business problems.
- Record, organize, and analyze financial transactions.
- Identify and report accounting trends.
- Recommendations on how to reduce expenses and increase revenue and encourage efficient use of resources.

- At least three years of related experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
