Staff Accountant

Summary:

The Moser Energy Systems Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The ideal candidate is professional and has excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work unsupervised in a professional, efficient, and on-task manner. 

 Education/ Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• 2 to 5 years of finance or accounting experience is required.

Supervisor:

Controller, unless otherwise designated.

 Typical Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Assists preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Oversees the outsourcing of accounts payable (AP) and maintains the outsourced data for AP.
• Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
• Track and maintain capital assets within the general ledger.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by Moser Energy Systems.
• Assists with any task required by the direct supervisor. 

 Required Skills/ Abilities:

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Expert in Microsoft Excel and Adobe and proficient with entire Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Ability to stay on task and productive without direct supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
• Must treat everyone equally with respect and dignity. 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit and/ or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as typing.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
