Chief Accountant Job Purpose:
Responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of the company's financial records. Manages the accounting department, prepares financial statements, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Plays a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting. Must have a firm understanding of accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team.
Chief Accountant Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Assist in developing and implementing financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting policies and procedures.

• Supervise and prepare financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activities.

• Manage and maintain accounting records to show revenue and expenses.

• Direct the upkeep of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, and expense distribution.

• Conduct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.

• Prepare forecasts for revenue, expenses, and cash flows.

• Lead internal audits to review accounting and administrative controls.

• Establish and improve system controls for financial systems and procedures.

• Implement and maintain new accounting, payroll, inventory, and property processes.

• Coordinate the preparation of audit materials and financial/tax reporting.

• Review financial statements with management.

• Lead the hiring process for job openings as needed.

• Provide leadership and guidance to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

• Train and mentor team members to promote professional growth.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Chief Accountant Supervisory Job Duties:

• Supervise personnel assisting with departmental tasks. (Team size varies depending on department activity levels.)

• Assign tasks and review subordinates' work.

• Conduct periodic performance reviews for team members.

Chief Accountant Skills and Qualifications:

• ?Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, such as excel, Oracle, Excalibur or E21.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Strong time management skills.

• Proficiency in calculating figures and amounts.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Pay for this position is $48.08/hour, full-time Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 430pm. Some longer hours or weekend work may be essential based on workload.

Pay Details: $48.08 per hour
