Founded in 2019 with the acquisition of 14 trucks and a 100,000 square foot warehouse, we experienced significant growth in 2020 and 2021. The newly founded Maximus Group, headquartered in Lafayette IN, now provides solutions across our sourcing, transportation, fulfillment, and manufacturing and assembly capabilities. We now have 350,000 square feet of manufacturing and fulfillment facilities, along with 45 trucks and 200 trailers.

Position Summary - The affect you will have on us:

The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in all finance and accounting operations with the goal of ensuring efficient and consistent corporate financial strategy.

Position Responsibilities – What you would do:

• Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Assist in preparing monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly basis, verifying and ensuring all cash activities are posted accurately.
• Serve as backup for accounts payable.
• Manage responsibilities for billing and collections of 2 divisions.
• Coordinate with Operations to ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions and balances.
• Provide assistance to outside accountants and auditors; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Assist with filing tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures per GAAP.
• Maintain schedules related to monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist in overall growth of the finance department.
• Recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
• Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience – How you prepared for this opportunity:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
• At least three years of related experience required.

• Thrive in a detail oriented, deadline driven operations environment.
• Interact and communicate effectively, concisely, meaningfully and tactfully with cross functional company areas, especially in warehousing and manufacturing.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Physical Requirements – What this position requires:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
