A successful candidate should have excellent communication,
computer and problem solving skills and enjoy building customer relationships
over the phone. A Bachelor's Degree and/or prior customer/industry related
experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation will include your base salary & commission,
as well as contest and promotional money opportunities. Company Benefits include: Company and

Position Description:
The Inside Safety Sales Specialist is responsible for growing
Matheson's safety products business while developing customer relationships
with valued business partners. The preferred candidate is one that has
experience selling safety products through the telesales channel. This
individual should have a sales background with either a safety product
manufacturer or a safety product distributor. The mission is to grow safety revenue,
increase gross profit, and secure new accounts within the designated sales
territory. Daily tasks include
identifying new customers and expanding business with existing clients through
professional negotiation of pricing and use of sales skills, excellent customer
service practices and accurate product knowledge over the telephone.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Attend all applicable company training events to remain
current on product knowledge, competitive information, sales skills and new
procedures. Also enhance these skills through self-study, coaching sessions
with management to review phone calls or target areas for improved performance.
2. Maintain phone-time, call productivity and new account
generation as well as other measures required by Management. While call volume
is important in this role, the position involves good communication and
collaboration with the field sales teams to identify sales opportunities and
achieve sales goals.
3. To make and accept customer telephone calls and provide
honest, sincere and courteous assistance to the customer's needs including
necessary follow up to ensure that the customer's expectations are met, or
exceeded. Handle all aspects of a customer's questions and requests honestly
and professionally.
4. Provide written and verbal pricing quotes to customers in
an organized, timely and professional manner.
5. Maintain rolling account information which may include
contact information, quotes generated, samples sent, orders placed, competitive
information and other recent activity data needed to handle the account.
6. Maintain company and contact specific data in CRM. This
data should include: employee size, contact information, annual spend
information, mailing list components, and pertinent data as needed.
7. Use CRM to schedule call planning, to maintain regular
purposeful contact with customers.
8. Follow all policies as defined in the company policy
manual including but not limited to the Antitrust Policy & Code of Ethics.
9. Work with internal associates in a professional manner at
all times.
10. Perform duties assigned by Management as accurately as
possible in a timely manner.
11. Communicate ideas to the management team on how to
enhance the safety program.
12. Follow all written and verbal procedures.
13. Attend occasional store events, vendor training, customer
calls or regional/area meetings. Light travel.
Education / Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
Minimum 5 years of related inside sales within the safety products industry while working for a manufacturer or distributor (or equivalent experience)
Five (5) years related experience in the safety industry desired
Successful track record of inside sales including growth and meeting sales targets
Knowledge of safety products and their applications in the market place
Proven change management skills, including building sponsorship, communications, and stakeholder management
Experience in Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Industrial Vending Programs a plus
Strong Microsoft office skills (Windows, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
Exercise strong communication skills both verbal and written
