Job Summary:
Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and various account analyses in support of the General Accounting function at NRG.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for accounting support of the Retail Companies including but not limited to:
Perform accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close of NRG
Responsible for accounting, recording, reporting, and coordinating with others for transactions across all NRG entities such as departmental accruals, inter-company, etc.
Cash application, clearing and related research
Prepare designated account reconciliations in accordance with company policy, including Cash, AP, AR, Commission amortization schedule, Other Assets and Liabilities
Conduct cash transaction functions, such as, recording transactions between the billing and financial systems and performing bank reconciliations
Work with the bank to void checks and positive-pay check suspects
Assist with unclaimed property functions
Assist with quarterly revenue audit support
Assist with special projects as requested
Working Conditions:
3 days in office per week, other days work remotely
Open office environment
Some overtime required as special projects arise
Travel- minimal
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree within accounting with one to four years of experience in general accounting and/or financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of GAAP
Knowledge of accounting software, specifically SAP
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Oral and written communication skills
Attention to detail; organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and/or databases. Hyperion and Analysis experience is a plus
Ability to work independently and as a team member; ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple sources
