Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant assists the Controller in accounting functions at the hospital. The Staff Accountant's role is to prepare general ledger journal entries, assist in month-end closing; maintain subsidiary ledgers (accounts payable and materials management); and analyze accounting data and prepare reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:
A. Prepares all periodic financial reports and ensures accuracy and timely filing.
B. Demonstrates an understanding of cost allocation by effectively allocating costs among predefined departments.
C. Assists the Controller with:
1. Month-end processes
2. Year-end audit
3. The development and implementation of new procedures to improve the quality and quantity of work processed
4. General ledger account reconciliation
D. Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required. Participates in professional development activities. Serves on committees as requested.
E. Performs duties in accordance with EMH Standards of Conduct and Mission Statement.
F. Performs related work as required and other duties (similar physical requirements and OSHA risk level) as assigned.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, preferred.
B. Experience: 1 - 2 years accounting experience in an office setting preferred.
