Staff Accountant; Construction

We are a small construction company located in El Cajon, CA. Seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team! This position will be working within the Accounting Department, reporting to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including AP, AR full cycle G/L accounting, and payroll functions
• Prepare monthly Work In Progress (WIP) reports and financial statements
• Support Controller with vendor accounts, bill management, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
• Maintain cost accounting systems to accurately track costs and revenues
• Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
• Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
• Report analysis and findings to management team
• Maintain confidentiality of organizational information

​Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Education in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field is highly desirable, but not required
• Experience in construction industry accounting is highly desirable, but not required
• Knowledge of core construction accounting principles, GAAP, and payment processing
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
• Knowledgeable in accounting software systems, preferably Sage 300 Construction Modules
• Detail and deadline-oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to pass a DOJ Background Check
