Over the past several years, Sotera Health built a corporate team to support the various business units and to continue to execute the strategic expansion of the company through organic growth, partnerships and acquisitions. The senior leadership team has established corporate headquarters in Broadview Heights, Ohio, and the company recently began its next chapter as a publicly traded company on November 20, 2020.
We are looking for financial talent to join our general ledger accounting team and continue building our organization focused on process efficiency, customer service and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can contribute and develop in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month end close duties for our North American operating units in a timely and accurate manner
- Understand each operation's trial balance, including nature and contents of each account
- Prepare and enter month end journal entries
- Reconcile and adjust general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner (bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accruals, etc.)
- Fixed asset/Lease Accounting; maintain ledgers, review expense authorization forms and work with operations to ensure proper accounting treatment
- Ensure accounting procedures are performed according to the department's defined standards and policies, that internal controls are properly executed and that work is completed within defined deadlines
- Assist with external financial and internal control audits
- Other analyses / responsibilities as assigned
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Strong accounting knowledge - strong knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to properly apply accounting rules and guidance and to effectively communicate complex accounting issues to non-financial people at all levels
- Solid analytical skills - a professional who is able to apply strong analytical skills to produce accurate reporting and to improve various aspects of the close and reporting processes
- Track record of continuous improvement - an energetic individual who is not satisfied with the status quo and is always focused on the improvement of business processes, reporting, and controls within his or her team and across the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills - a relationship builder with a professional, open and confident style who can build bridges and work effectively across a global organization and who has strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proactive approach- someone who addresses each task with a sense of urgency and is capable of generating a high volume of quality work products
- Good systems knowledge - experience and understanding of JDE or similar enterprise systems, HFM consolidations system
Other Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or Candidate or Public Accounting experience a plus
- Ability to work overtime and effectively under tight time constraints as required at peak reporting periods
- Strong PC skills including Excel experience
- Strong English skills (written and verbal)
- Occasional travel possible
