08/14/2023St. Juliana School is seeking an engaging, enthusiastic, flexible candidate to join the team as a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The candidate will teach two sections of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Science in a well-stocked Science lab and work alongside a team of 5 other Junior High teachers from 8:00-3:00pm.
St. Juliana School is a Blue Ribbon award school with 550 students enrolled in Preschool-Eighth Grade in the Edison Park neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. Students at St. Juliana School engage in rigorous academics deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. The dynamic candidate would believe in and see out the school's mission, which is to evangelize and teach the Gospel message in the Catholic tradition while instilling in students an excellent foundation, committment to social justice, and a sense of civic awareness and personal responsibility.
Qualifications:
-Effective communication skills to develop rapport with students, teachers, parents and administration
-Certified by the state of Illinois to teach Middle School with an endorsement in Science, or similar field
-Previous classroom experience as a teacher or assistant is preferred, but not required
-Organized, flexible individual
-Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education, Elementary Education, or related field
-Knowledge and experience in using educational technology to enhance instruction
-Proficient use of technology to plan lessons and interpret data, including but not limited to I-READY, Google Suites

Performance Objectives:
-Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church
-Know, teach, and act consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school
-Maintain state certification
-Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal
-Be a team player: flexible, collaborative, cooperative
-Participate in various Professional Development programs, as deemed necessary by the Principal
-Perform teaching duties as outlined in the Teacher Contract and/or assigned by the Principal
-Attend required faculty meetings monthly
-Collaborate with Principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects
-Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
-Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment
-Participate in the annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school
-Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters
