Sr. Chemical Engineer
(This position offers a HYBRID-REMOTE work schedule.)
Position Description:
- Assist in various Radiological/Nuclear detection Systems Engineering processes in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Systems Support Directorate (SSD) and Front Office in its effort to combat the catastrophic use of weapon of mass destruction within the US and its territories.
- Follow established DHS Acquisition and Systems Engineer Lifecycle (SELC) policies, procedures, frameworks to develop, acquire and deploy counter- WMD Detection systems to our Federal, State , Local and Tribal operational partners.
- Work with Project Manager to develop project documentation requirements and schedules.
- Assist with development, fielding and sustaining equipment.
- Conduct Systems Engineering tasks in support of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) systems.
- Supervise and guide junior engineers.
In this role you will….
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Integrated Master Plans (IMS) and resource-loaded integrated master schedules for acquisition programs as well as Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs)
- Develop configuration management plans identifying how configuration items will be identified and managed for acquisition programs to ensure unauthorized changes are not made to configuration baselines
- Develop interface management plans for the acquisition of systems. Contractor shall analyze systems to determine all interfaces and identify which interfaces are critical. All critical interfaces will be documented in an interface control document. Interface management plans will include strategies to obtain a security authorization decision for information systems
- Derive and decompose system functional requirements to field an acquisition system (e.g., Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) develop and analysis)
- Coordinate with Government personnel to ensure requirements are met. For requirements that are determined not to be pursued or modified, assist in the coordination with end-users to develop and approve waivers, deviations, or modifications for those requirements
- Develop disposition plans for disposal of systems when end-of-life is reached
- Analyze proposed systems to determine capability of proposed systems to meet end-user requirements
- Prepare and submit acquisition artifacts for oversight reviews and develop briefings for oversight officials
- Support CBRN technical evaluations and report generations as needed for the program execution
- Support defining the regression tests needed to engage with DHS component Configuration Control Boards (CCB) when processing an engineering change proposal for fielded equipment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Experience Requirements:
- 12+ years in Systems Engineering or related work
Education Requirements:
- BS degree or equivalent (4 years of work experience), in engineering discipline
- MS degree and 9+ years of engineering related work

Security Clearance Requirements:
- Secret with ability to obtain DHS Suitability
