Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer operates and maintains Windows and Linux servers and the services provided by these systems. The Systems Engineer must have the ability to understand complex systems, have advanced problem determination and problem-solving skills. They will work with team members in the development of systems and network security, strategies and implementing software and hardware upgrades.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operation of servers, KVMs, storage, appliances and virtual servers.Server and system patch management.Implementation of campus network computer systems.Disaster recovery planning.Managing and monitoring systems.Automating tasks.Designing systems.Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting.Monitoring backup and recovery.Enforcing security protocols.Creating and maintaining system documentation.Conducting regular system audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and a minimum of 4 years of experience in technical computer-related positions, demonstrating the ability to learn information systems at a technical level that would allow administering an enterprise network (1,500 devices and 3,000 users) and experience testing and implementing network software, and able to demonstrate the ability to master a complex environment that includes a variety of kinds of systems, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
