Gannett Fleming is actively searching for an experienced Senior Project Manager - Design Lead that possesses strong leadership and management skills, driving the successful completion of projects supporting a $2.2 B capital program in the Greater Chicago area.
A successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively across multi-disciplined groups along with the ability to build consensus, fostering strong relationships enterprise wide. This Senior Project Manager should have a solid and recognized reputation for successfully completed transit projects of significant complexity, who has had leadership roles in transit project development from planning and alternatives analysis, through the environmental approval process, through final design, and into construction and implementation.
Primary duties would include serving as Design Lead responsible for aspects of client and design-team management of light rail and commuter rail projects. Manage the preparation of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates. Plan, organize, and supervise project teams to ensure good contract performance. Remain current on Federal Transit Administration FTA policies and procedures that impact the design and implementation of transit projects.
Leverage project management tools required for a major transit i.e., scope, cost and schedule control. Proven experience in managing, coordinating and supervising daily the work of all the practices/disciplines involved in large transit projects is required. A demonstrated ability to identify the requirements of the project, analyze and develop expert opinion and form conclusions consistent with project risks and the client expectations is essential. Additional Responsibilities include
- Work with multiple disciplines and department to effectively capture and document project scope.
- Lead development of design and consultant task orders.
- Provide procurement support and development of front-end contractor documents as required.
- Advise management of various contracts using project data, lessons learned from other projects, and industry experience/best practice.
- Drive program-level support deliverables and initiatives.
- Lead improvement and standardization efforts of engineering and construction management task orders and blanket contracts.
- Participate in various construction and capital program delivery enhancement efforts.
- Facilitate meetings with multiple user groups and technical leads throughout project lifecycles and program enhancement initiatives to ensure value add work-products and capture/incorporate lessons learned for continual process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) or Architecture
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Minimum of 15 years progressive experience working on major infrastructure projects with significant concentration of experience in rail and light rail transit projects, experience with clients in the Greater Chicago Area strongly preferred.
- Senior Project Management experience required with demonstrated experience at profitably managing major Transit Design projects.
- Experience must include final design projects that included the management of project team to include (employees and sub-consultants) to deliver on time and within budget guidelines.
- Effective client management skills.
- Excellent relationship building and listening skills
